The Baby Sleep Retreat story

Suzy and Liz met over 15 years ago and became firm friends. Whilst working together as Maternity Nurses in multiple birth families, they discovered that their approach to infant care was similar. They realized that there was a serious lack of in-home specialist advice for parents struggling with their infants sleep and feeding issues. Many parents turn to the internet or books and get overwhelmed and confused.  Liz and Suzy created Baby Sleep Retreat so that parents could have expert evidence-based advice in real time and within the comfort of their own home.

Together, Liz and Suzy, each with 35+ years’ experience make a strong team. Their approach is nurturing, holistic and completely non-judgmental. They tailor their advice around each individual infant’s personality and family situation.

At just 3 years old, Suzy told her parents that when she grew up she would ‘cuddle babies’. In the last 35+ years, Suzy has done so much more than that, caring for over 1,000 infants worldwide and coaching many parents too. When she was 17 years old she had already qualified as a nanny and was caring for five children under 6 years old, including newborn twins and working regularly in a nursery too. Several years and families later, Suzy moved to France where she became fluent in french and set up a service training night and day nannies, organizing children’s entertainment at major events and working as the manageress in a parent inclusive nursery with infants from 2 months to 3 years. Before working as a Paediatric Sleep and Behavioural Consultant, Suzy gained a solid reputation as an international Maternity Nurse. She worked with twins and saw the impact sleep deprivation has on a family. With a desire to help more parents, Suzy took her studies even further and added many accredited courses to her already substantial list, to become a fully certified Sleep Consultant.

With a high level of success and a good deal of enthusiasm, Suzy has been sharing her knowledge and experience throughout Europe, the Middle and the Far East. She focuses on behavioural sleep disorders and feeding concerns including bottle refusal, newborn care and occasionally potty training too. Suzy’s experience caring for over 40 sets of twins means she is empathetic to the challenges twins’ parents face and is always keen to help find a realistic balance.

Suzy is cheerful, calm with a warm manner and a positive attitude. She has the unique ability to understand how babies see their world and this brings tranquillity into a stressful situation.

Liz Woolfitt

Over the last 35 years, Liz has worked in private homes advising and supporting parents of infants from newborn to pre-school. Liz is a certified Sleep & Feeding Consultant, having worked many foundation years as a specialist Maternity Nurse caring for single babies, twins and triplets. As a mum herself, she knows first-hand that being a parent can sometimes be an emotional roller coaster. She is kind, caring and has a naturally gentle approach with a great deal of patience.

Liz understands the effects that lack of sleep can have on a family as well as affecting an infants’ development and well-being. She practices gentle sleep settling techniques with younger babies to set good sleep roots from an early age. For older infants she teaches happy sleep associations and the ability to self-settle. All this complimented with the right balance of daytime activity and nutrition promotes better quality sleep for the whole family.

Liz covers all areas of the UK as well as internationally. Please get in touch and see how she can help you.
